the active volcano Piton de la Fournaise is part of the island Réunion (french overseas department and part of the EU). This volcano and island is forced by a hot spot under the Indian Ocean plate and one of the most frequent active volcano on earth.
the highest summit of Réunion is the old volcano Piton Neiges with 3069 meters, while Piton de la Fournaise has only 2631 meters altitude.
