p Oldoinyo Lengai (2950 m)

It's 100 years ago, when the first report on Lengai was done by the explorer Mr. Jaeger. Some big explosive eruptions accoured during this 100 years and today it looks like, that the next "big one" want wait for long. Before this next destroying eruption, we like to take the chance for 2 special trips on Lengai. Also the VHDL project on Lengai should make progress soon enought.

Other volcanoes of the Tanzanian Rift Valley and the national parks (Lake Manyara, Ngorongoro and Arusha) will offer a great vaority of animal life and astounded nature. A fine lodge and the hotel Impala will give you a comfortable start and end of this excursions.

Demands: Lengai is a tought and steep climp, while the trekking and hiking only needs a good physical condition.

Included on our tour:
Transport of the group in 4xwhell jeeps; porters; cooks; a tent for 2 persons each; overnight in the lodge and in the hotel in Arusha; full board; drinks only limited; insurance to quit the tour in case of health problems; entrance fees; tips

The travel comfort is very basic at the volcano and camps, because we are out in the nature. At the hotel and lodge the comfort is quite high.

Travelprogram day by day and (service included on the tour)

day 1: Flight to Nairobi and overnight at a hotel in Nairobi.

day 2: Transfer from Nairobi to Arusha (Tansania), overnight at the hotel Impala.
(Breakfast; transfer with a shuttle from Nairobi to Arusha; koffee and snacks; dinner and overnight at hotel Impala)

day 3: Arusha to Lake Natron and camp.
(Breakfast; transport in 4x4 jeeps, driver and two cooks until the end of our excursion; camp; cold lunch and dinner at the camp; Tee, Kaffee and drinkingwater will be provided; entrance to the Nationalpark)

day 4: Drive to the foot of Oldoinyo Lengai and hike up from 1100 meters altitude to the summit (2800 m) in 6-8 hours.
(all food, entrance and transport; Masaii with their donkeys for the transport of equippment, food and your luggage; one porter for your luggage for the hike(*))

day 5: Full day Lengai.

day 10: Hike down to the camp at Lake Natron.

day 12: We drive back to Arusha (Rivertrees Lodge).

day 13: Safari at Arusha Nationalpark and overnight at Miriakamba hut at 2000 m.
(all food, entrance, accomodation at Miriakamba hut, ranger, fees and transport)

day 14: Trekking at the ashcone of Mt. Meru and drive to Arusha.
(all food, entrance, accomodation at hotel Impala and transport)

day 15: Bus-Shuttle to Nairobi and transfer to the airport.
(Breakfast; snack; transfer from Arusha to the airport of Nairobi)

The price
per participant will be about 3000,-US$ (2.450,-Euro) based on a group of 5-8 participants.
For single accomondation additional 200,-US$. You can also take part only of the Lengai climb.

Note:
Drinking water, coffee and tea is always included. (X) standard double room or single doublerooms depending on your boodking. If accommedation in one particular hotel is not availiable, equal accomplishment will be given. Further more we keep the opportunity to change the program if necessary.
Not included services: Journey (flights) to Arusha (Tanzania) and back; payments for the visa; departure- and airport-tax; your personal shopping and expenditures; edditional porter at the volcanoes(*)if you need more than one porter for your personal belongings
